The Power of ONE

So if you are just beginning, listed below is step one in your DIY future!

Only dream of a crafting/DIY area in your home like I do?  Your child(ren) taking up all available space?  Well first things first, go out and buy one clear tote (something that can still be picked up once filled).  Sticker it, label it, mark it however you want because this is your personal go-to place for all things DIY!

Some inexpensive essentials to buy when you are starting your DIY tote:

  • One bottle of ModPodge -matte finish (at least 16oz)
  • One Assorted Brush Pack – 40pc Craftsmart set was under $10 at Michael’s and it includes foam brushes
  • One package of Sharpie Multi Colored Fine Point Markers
  • One additional Sharpie Black Fine Point (I blow through black sharpies)
  • One Acrylic 12 pc assort color pack – my Craftsmart value pack isn’t the best quality, but it does the job and didn’t break the bank.
  • One pair of decent scissors
  • One tube of E6000 industrial strength adhesive (Walmart and Michael’s carries it)
  • One piece of sand paper, medium grain

Feel free to hit up the Dollar Tree (or the equivalent of) to get a one container for your sharpies and one for your brushes.  I chose to use mason jars but a pencil box container will do the trick too.

Now that you put some basics together, you also have one place to keep all the future items you add to your DIY collection.

You are now on the way to creating great DIY projects for your home and to give as gifts.
